Parisians welcome the old and the new, the perfect and the imperfect, and they do it in a way that appears effortless.
Like they were born to do it.
They know that the more imaginative, personal, and emotional a home feels the more it feeds the soul of those who dwell in it and those who visit. That is what Parisians know. That is what they do. They honor their personal story, authenticity, and personality as the ultimate beauty.
This makes us crazy with jealousy. Hence why I believe Americans are obsessed with Parisian style and Decor. We are always looking at what other people are doing. We are always going to a "Garanimals" presentation.
The new modern white-and-clean trend has everyone replacing dark granites with white marble and painting out cherry cabinets white.
I think this is a good sign. Divorcing your home of personality will only make you crave having one. Once this blank-canvas approach grows boring in the near future, I see Americans developing a hunger to paint and decorate their spaces by making them personal, authentic, and full of personality. And when they do, they will do it better than Parisians.
